As a bonus to celebrate Fighter of the Week Megan on Twitter, here’s her very first appearance back in February 2009.
In the immortal words of Yogi Berra, “It’s déjà vu all over again.” In the words of France, “It was like looking into a mirror…almost. I was getting ready to lock up the fitness center early when who should waltz in but damn near the spitting image of myself…only blonde. I always wondered how I’d look as a blonde—and I sure as hell didn’t like it.”
Is this France’s doppelganger? We always thought France was unique, but if there are two of her, how many more can there be in the world, we wonder. Maybe she’s Fran’s clone. Whatever she is, we want to meet her.

I also love that this story would have worked great as a one off…the novelty of the idea of encountering your double and opposite is good writing, but I’m glad it wasn’t a one off…so many great stories came out of this one!
The original concept was for her to be Caribe’s “clone”, but at some point she became France’s clone. Also the original plan was for the clone to appear out of the blue, struggle through 1 or only a few angry matches with our “regular” girl, & then the clone disappears forever. Somewhere along the way, Megan rapidly acquired a loyal following, & we decided to keep her & add her to the Basement roster.
She’s among my favorites, too.
